Meeting New Tweeps

I haven't blogged in awhile but I must shake off the flour off my hands and get to it.  Lately I have been trying new recipes via @thiswifebakes on Twitter and her blog is http://www.thiswifebakes.blogspot.com/.  I have made her red velvet cake, lemon pound cake and sour cream chocolate cake with a coconut pecan frosting.  ALL of them were a great hit with my co-workers and family; so now these cakes have been added to my menu.

In addition to trying new cake recipes, I have been meeting new people on Twitter and have actually met some of them in real life.  One of my new tweeps @izzibag (Anne Agoren), is a lovely woman from across the pond and she has in turn introduced me to @bevisible and @bridalease.  Anne (@izzibag) has also introduced me to some new hair products from @HairRules, you can also go to http://www.hairrules.com/.  I am so happy she did because I love this hair care line!  The Grapefruit Purifying shampoo is great; it made my scalp tingle in a good way and the Quench Ultra Rich Conditioner is the salve for the scalp that sweats in step aerobics (mine).  My beautician (not on twitter) has been using this product for a few months and she loves it! I hope anyone that reads this blog tries the cakes from @thiswifebakes and tries the hair products from @HairRules because these products are for every hair type.

Chocolate Plastique

Chocolate Plastique or Modeling Chocolate seems to be a forgotten medium. Fondant seems to be in the "in" thing but fondant seems to be something you get an acquired taste for. Why would you want to have to acquire a taste for a once in a while treat like cake? Chocoalte taste way better than fondant. I covered this pillow cake in Chocolate Plastique. This was my first attempt at a pillow cake and my first attempt at covering a cake in the "plastique". This cake in particular was for 16th Birthday "Princess". The crown was made out of white chocolate then covered in pearl luster dust. The base of the crown was from a birthday cake box candy mold and the peaks of the crown are from a snowflake candy mold and I "glued" the snowflakes to the base with melted chocolate and let it harden. I'm always nervous to see if the customer likes the cake or not and if it was worth the money! We'll see! I am including the recipe and instructions for the modeling chocolate/chocolate plastique because Wilton hasn't written it in their yearbook since about 1992!

14oz. of candy melts from Wilton, Candyland Crafts etc. (chocolate)
1/3 cup of light corn syrup
candy color (optional)

Melt the candy as normal (double boiler or microwave)
if it's white chocolate and you want to add color this is the time to do it; make sure it's exactly the color you want.
Add corn syrup and mix until it's well blended

Shape mixture onto a 6 inch square of wax paper and let it set at room temperature until it's dry.
Wrap well and store at room temp. until needed. Modeling candy handles well if hardened overnight.
Then break of small piece and knead and you're on your way!

My First Post 1/4/10

My friend John of www.johnsimondaily.com , suggested a while ago that I should write a blog. I guess he thinks I'm funny and I have an odd way of thinking so something like this might be good for me. I had no idea how to start one but then I met a gentleman on twitter.com by the name of Darian of http://legendsiconsandrolemodels.blogspot.com and he has a blog and another new twittermate named Neahle of http://stylesaveur.blogspot.com has a blog and I noticed there was a tab that said start your own blog and here I am writing one (I think).I guess I should start off by introducing myself, Hi I'm Tisha just a girl/woman going through life and observing different folks. I said observing not stalking! I'm single (maybe a little too single, but we'll talk about that another time), no children and I feel like one of the most privileged under privileged chicks in the world! I have a regular daytime job and a small word of mouth business baking and decorating cakes. The name of my business is Treats by Tisha hence www.treatsbytisha.shutterfly.com. I guess if you click on the link it will take you to the site, so I guess I don't have to insert pictures here (you are here, with a big arrow), but I think I will just to make my first entry more exciting. Haha but anyway back to the blog (stay focused). I love to laugh, I've been told its infectious and some say obnoxious but that's the only thing that's obnoxious about me I swear. So, lets see how life goes in 2010. I have an issue with commitment let's see if I'm committed in 2010!
